This photo was taken June 1, 2013 at the "Van Tassel Aviary" in Poway, California. We had a great day in Charlie's backyard shooting a variety of subjects. They are bandits landing on the rim of Hummingbird feeders to get a meal. Here the mail is on a branch 15 feet away scoping out the vittles.

Nikon D800 Nikkor 600mm 1/1250 f/8 Nikon 900 flash with Better Beamer Tripod with a Wimberley Gimbal. White balance auto. Processed in Lightroom, CS6 and NIK.

LOL.....I was joking about your fine hummingbird photo you posted with it being a visitor from my group here in Corona, and now the same Oriole who raids my feeders too.

This is another extremely impressive & nice capture here, Patrick. The small catch light in the eye is a real plus.
These are beautiful birds and although they are raiders on the feeders I enjoy seeing them as much as the hummers. Very nice work again.

Great pose and perch, Patrick. Looks like the light was a bit harsh, but the yellows still look good and that's a tough job.

Lovely, Patrick. Charlie's got an impressive selection of birds, doesn't he? I'm surprised you need the fill flash, though.
