Many of us love photographing in Death Valley, and we love watching our participants feed off our enthusiasm here. This is one of my favorite and most challenging locations, always trying to render popular scenes in a different way. Like Chet, I trust this is different enough to share with you.

Nice lines and forms. I like the black and white rendition and the dark exposure emphasizes the lines very well.. Nice unique take on DV. I really enjoyed my time in Death Valley though it was too brief and I look forward to going back. Chet

Matt, the lines begged a dark treatment to me!

Chet, one can never have enough time in Death Valley. We have been there numerous times and always love the different way it looks each time, even each day!

Thomas and Jared, thank you so much! It is always wonderful as artists when others enjoy our work.

Nice one Margo, I like the idea behind your process here.

Perhaps I would consider having a gentle tonal graduation in the darks to give them more depth.

Emanuel,

I totally agree with you about the darks. One of the bad things about the Internet, as we all know, is that the detail in the original is often lost in the web reduction. RGB vs. sRGB. Believe me, in the original and in the print, there is a great tonal range and plenty of subtle detail in the darks.

Thanks for your comments. They are right on target about the darks. Do we process for the print or the web? Alas, I only have time for the print.

Take care,

TBC

Alas, for this gallery, process for web or be crucified
Seriously, i like the shot, it's different and i appreciate that. If you made a postcard of it, it wouldn't sell at all, but then you would have lots of leftovers that you could turn into some freaky wallpaper or something...

Stan,

I like your comments. Meanwhile, given the choice, I'll take crucifixion! ;-) LOL
