WOW, Morris!
This is really fantastic... Perfect amount of detail in the foreground, great highlight control, great comp, great processing, ETC.! I like how that ridge is barely visible beneath the cloud layer on the left. Very cool... I saw there was some nice light further north up the foothills, but didn't look hard enough last evening. Great image...

This is almost an angelic image. A lot here to look at. The sun drew me to the center of the image, then i started to move around in the image and saw the mountains that the clouds and sun seem to be rising up out of. Great image.

Beautiful image, Morris. I love the color in the clouds contrasting with the dark and rugged foreground. At first I thought maybe the foreground was too dark but the larger image shows more detail. Well done!

Beautiful light in this image Morris. Great control of very tough light and beautiful color. The large view is a must for the ridge detail below. Wonderful shot.

The appearing! Very very cool moment of light! The mid-ground land mass barely visible is amazing looking too. Awesome!

Just fantastic! Stunning color and excellent job controlling that light Morris! Sunsets from 14,000 ft are special right? I'm surprised we don't get more of these great shots from Evans or Pikes Peak.

I think this is worthy of a trademark "Oh Mommy"!! This is just fantastic. What an incredible view and wonderfully captured as well. Wow.
EDIT: Ok - so I was being lazy and just gave you an attaboy comment. While this is certainly deserving of the praise it might be helpful to articulate what I like about it. I like the dynamic range represented with the deep shadows and bright highlights. The color palette is also beautiful. While I can see the point that the foreground rocks are a somewhat incidental part of the composition I would contend that they provide context and a sense of depth to the image as well as a nice counterpoint to the bright highlights. I also like how they frame the bright orange clouds that are front and center. The clouds at the bottom of the frame provide great contrast to the foreground rocks and really add a lot to the composition overall. Just a remarkable scene overall. It must have been incredible to witness this in person.

Gorgeous colors and light in those clouds...indeed, very heavenly. I like the dark rocks in the foreground to help me keep my feet on the ground. Wonderful image!

I think you've captured some absolutely epic light here. I think it stands alone. The foreground feels like an afterthought to me and might even be better without it.

The light quality here is fantastic. I love that you went with a very natural presentation. My only suggestion would be to ever so slightly darken the foreground. I don't think you quite have any pure black in the true deep shadows.

Absolutely gorgeous image Morris, this ranks right up there with your best IMO. Great exposure control and that little bit of mountainside in the distance on the left peeking through gives that extra depth and perspective of height.

Thanks everyone for the encouragement and the suggestions.
Kane, sunsets can be amazing from those high peaks, and I'm surprised we don't see more from them, too.
Brian, thanks for the detailed review, and yes, it was incredible to witness. It lasted over 30 minutes with the clouds changing conditions every second it seemed.
Matt, it seems you really really need to go to confession.
Ben, spoken like a true film shooter. I'm kidding, and I will probably add some black back in, thanks.

Great catch, Morris, just enough rocks in the foreground to "ground" the view , with lovely colors and details in the clouds. That, nearly hidden ridge in the shadows is a neat inclusion.
