Common Yellowthroat

Going through some older files. This one is from the Brig along the wildlife drive. I wish for a little more dof for the tail, but it was no doubt quicker than I was!

50D, 500mm, ISO 200, F4, 1/800 Beanbag f/car window, almost ff

Thanks very much to those who kindly take the time to critique/comment! Sharon

Sharon,
The Common Yellowthroats have been kind to you. Love this image. The bright yellow chest against the red branch is wonderful.

Nice lighting on the bird and perch. The red branch compliments the bird and the background well. Good detail in the face and chest and nice catchlight.

Very nice image of this Warbler Sharon. You do have to be quick and ready when these come into the open, obviously you were and pulled a good one off. :toast:

Well taken! I agree with you on the DOF, but for me it is a minor thing. Good color and detail in the face and head. Thanks for sharing.

Nice one, Sharon. The small dof does show in the beak as well, but when a bird this small is full frame, there is no way to get it all in focus-the dof just isn't that large at any reasonable f-stop.

Lovely bird, well photographed. The OOF tail does not bother me, some more DOF would maybe have had its effect on the background as well - I would be more than happy with a shot like this of the Yellowthroat  , cheers, Hans

Beautiful pose and colors in the birds, the perch and the BG. The DOF width and placement work for me.
