Thanks for the comments on "Maroon," which influenced the processing on this photo, also featuring backlight.

D700, 105/2.8 VR, tripod; f8, 1/160, ISO 500, +0.33 EV. Cloned out an intrusive stem that I could not avoid in the field and downsized the leaf on the right of the flower; NIK Viveza and Color Efex.

Thanks for viewing and for your thoughts. Enjoying these summer months of "rose time," and hope you are too.

Catherine - Pretty good luminosity there with some great colors for the Rose with a few petals definitely showing the backlit scenario.

I feel its a bit tight in the frame, at left and perhaps bottom too. Not sure of the options you have.

Beautiful colors, Catherine. I like the luminescence and the shallow dof. I agree with Ram about the rose feeling tight inside the borders, except I'd say all around.

The colors are just beautiful and I agree with the other comments about the tightness in the frame.

Wow, wow, wow, does that background make this rose pop off of the screen! Wonderful use of light, color, and pov to bring out all of the best of this gorgeous flower. :toast: :toast:

These are stunning colors and I like how your dof starts off sharp in the lower left and gets softer toward the top right. Very well done.

Catherine:

The backlit makes this rose really stands out. Love the color of this rose. Agree with Ram about the tight framing.
