Nice flower bed, Bob, and very well captured. I like the strip of lawn across the top and the angle you chose for the flowers. Great dof-what was your lens?

Well captured, Bob. Good detail throughout. I guess my feeling is a little different than Dennis's in that I don't think the grass at the top adds anything to the image. A police station floral shoot, huh? That could be a first here at NPN. Just don't pick any!

Angle of view and inclusion of grass at the top leads me to imagine an endless "parkway" of these through which to stroll. An abstraction of the flowers-- by leaving out the grass-- works well, too, for a different effect on the imagination. Looks pretty high contrast with no detail in the flowers' centers. Might be something to tweak, or just fine as is, depending on your intent for the image.

Bob - Good observations and suggestions already. A slightly higher and top down angle might have eliminated the background but I am sure your vision wanted that background there.

And, why were you at the police station? :jump:

I really like the dof to give the overall sharpness to all these blooms. A bunch of pretty color and variety of sizes. It makes for an interesting image.

I like the over all composition, but it is a little dark to me. Maybe a little to much contrast.

What a great clump of hybrid Black-eyed Susans. Years ago I saw some wild Black-eyed Susans that had the dark petal centers that these show and I always thought that those were specially interesting. I too, like the touch of green grass at the top.

Bob and Charly:

Lovely clump of black eye Susan. The lawn gives this image a spacious feel and a pano crop without the lawn at the top is a different comp. Depends on your intentions.
