The Balsam Root looked so cheerful below the threatening, stormy sky.

Canon 5d,Mk3, IS0500, 32mm, f/16, 1/100 sec.

Thanks in advance for any comment or critiques.

Great contrast between the threatening skies and the bright, cheerful FG flowers.
Like this a lot!

Kathy,

Terrific! An excellent sense of place and conditions. In fact the diffused light has a quality that makes me think rain is coming - You know that smell after a new rain? Well it's there really even without seeing the presence of the sky above. Brooding sky, cheerful flowers, a nice combo for a great nature story.

The different layers work well here with the cheerful yellow blooms anchoring the capture. :wavey:
The partial lrf flowers cut off is a minor nit. :toast:

I love this area all around the Teton's, Kathy. The Balsam root looks well groomed by mother nature in this scene.

Nice comp and light. I agree that the contrasts between the peaceful flowers and threatening sky make for an engaging composition. This looks very real to me, which is in general good, but I'm wondering if there is room here for a more artistic interpretation. The elements here are very nice, but could they be taken to a more personal level either in composition or development?
