Peaceful Morning

I haven't really had anything new to post for a little while now and also haven't been on NPN as much as usual. Did get a chance to make a few comments here and there, but that was about it. This image isn't new but I decided to process a web version of it and see what you thought. It was made at Bakken's Pond State Wildlife Area just a couple of miles from my home. I enjoyed the early morning light with the fog and the overall feel of this scene. I always think that I'm pretty lucky to have this place so close to home. Hope to have a few new images before long now! I included a larger view. Thanks for any thoughts.

Lovely light and nice low country scenery. Not so different from my home country in the Atlantic Coastal Low Country.

Beautiful light and color Nick. I like the detail in the vegetation and the water leading into the mid and background. Nice work.

The large image is beautiful, Nick. I would think this place would provide a treasure trove of photo ops close to home. Lucky you indeed.

Looks like a glorious and very serene morning to be out. The lighting and hints of fog are great. I especially like those well lit grasses in the llc.

Amazing light and atmosphere in your image, Nick. All the elements in your composition work together wonderfully for me. And finally the fantastic Zeiss lens - must be stunning as a large print.

This definitely has a very calm feel to it. It reminds me a bit of a painting with all the wonderful texture in the foreground, and the misty background. No nits from me.

Thanks guys for your thoughts on this one. As always much appreciated!
Scott, It really is nice having this place close to home. Over the years I have done a lot of shooting here and just enjoy my time while there. I have made lots of prints from my images of this area.
Peter, Yes, I love that lens. The manual focus is such a pleasure to use and the overall quality is wonderful! Seems like I never need a polarizer with it as well, even though I did buy a new B&W 82mm thin mount for it. Cheers, Nick

Really enjoy the variety of foliage in the foreground, Nick and the graceful curve of the river moving the eye back to the rising fog works very well. Have to look at the larger view to fully appreciate.

Peaceful scene indeed Nick. I imagine the kind of morning where when you get there, it's socked in, a bit cold and gloomy, but as the minutes go by, the sun rises and starts burning off the fog and eventually you end up with the warmth, off comes the jacket and all the while happily enjoying the morning. No nits or suggestions really, just a nicely balanced and pleasant image to enjoy.

What a wonderful scene here, Nick. I love this composition. I will say I might add a very slight boost in contrast & or saturation, but that kind of stuff is always subjective and not meant as a nit by any means. Excellent scene overall.

Hi Paul, I appreciate your thoughts. I think I'll try adding a bit of contrast and saturation and see how it looks to me. Thanks much, Nick

I added just a little contrast and a bit of saturation with this version as Paul was thinking about. As he mentioned not really a nit but maybe just a little tweak that could work. I tried it and think it worked well. Probably hard to see much difference when they are not side by side because it was small adjustments, but I could tell the difference. Thanks.

Even though there is a small increase in contrast and sat in the repost, I feel it has changed the mood quite significantly. There is wonderful contemplative feel to the original that evokes distant old memories, whereas the repost, being punchier and more saturated, just doesn't have this same feel. For me, I prefer the original for that reason. Excellent!!

I think the original post works as presented. The composition is nice. I like the S-curve starting with the flowers in the FG and ending with the foggy sky. Nice job!

I really like the mood here (especially in the first post). The lighting does it for this!
