Yellow Crown on a Rail
by Bill Leggett
This morning on my way to Jean Lafitte NP I stopped by Bayou Sauvage NWR just at sunrise. The setting was still pretty dark, and I noticed a bird on the railing of a little T-shaped pier where I've seen and photographed White Ibis and BBWD's in the past. When I approached I realized that there was not one, but five of these juvies! With such marginal early light, I wasn't sure I could pull it off, but decided to set the camera up a bit different from my usual modus operandi. Thought it turned out pretty fair considering the conditions. Cropped to 54% of original. Larger image included.
