Churchill Manitoba.
Side-lit and lost some whites but I like the pose of the bird.
1/350s, f/9.5, ISO 200 - 0.33 EV. 600 mm +TC 1.4 on D800.

Great pose Claude. Unfortunately not as sharp as it could be and you've got quite a halo, particularly around the wing/body on the RH side of the picture.
Might have been better to lose a couple of f-stops and gain some shutter speed.

Terrific wing position against a nice clean background. The halos do detract.

Excellent wing position and pose. Even the feet are nicely placed. Halos noted.

Claude: While the pose is very nice, something bad is happening with post processing and posting. The halos pointed out are just part of the problem. The image looks like it is either a huge crop, or something else has gone wrong. The D800 is certainly capable of capturing much more detail. 1/350 with a 600 and a 1.4 is a possible culprit as that is pretty slow. Hopefully on a solid tripod and head?

Tks for comments, haloing comes from trying to balance light on both wings in PP. Tripod and Wimberley head were used focus was on th breast of the landing bird.It is cropped to 50% of FF. Here is best I can do with minimal PP.

The repost is a definite improvement. But if you don't have good light on the subject you'll never be able to fake it in post processing.

Ah, the repost is distinctly better!! Love the wing position, of course. The side-lighting is a perfectly natural thing and gives a nice sense of dimension. In fact I like how the light shines through the darker wing; it wasn't apparent in the original post and I think is what makes the repost so much better, among other things-- no halos, etc.
