Old Man's Whiskers

The specific name of Geum triflorum is quite appropriate for this flower. The upper bloom lifts toward the end of development. These blooms don't open any further. The leaves in the bg are a delphinium.

5Diii, 180mm f3.5 macro, tripod. f18, 1/20, Av mode with no compensation, iso 320. A very slight crop to get it framed the way I wanted and some cloning to cover some bright areas in the bg. Processed in CS6. Taken June 13th at 7:34 am in my garden.

Your comments and criticisms are always appreciated.

Thanks for looking,

You give us such fine examples of isolating specific plants and showing all the details. This is most excellent, Dennis.

Marvellous detail, Dennis, and lovely colour. Only wonder about just a touch more softening/darkening of the leaves in the ULC - otherwise for me the bg is perfect.

Excellent detail Dennis, along with color and comp, also sits very nice against the bg. Beautiful work.

Your composition made me chuckle with this first opened. The details are stunning and the reds in the plant stand out so nicely from the green background. Very well done.

Dennis - Excellent micro details. I have always known this as Prairie Smoke and nice to know the alternate name for this.
