Not sure if this critter is a bee or fly, but as I was trying to get water drop photos, it dropped in and became my new subject! I have included a larger image, but I am not sure what caused the somewhat odd light/contrast that is very apparent around the front of the insect. Is it a type of halo from sharpening? over sharping?

It is a fly, John. A Hoverfly to be more precise. This is a very nice capture of it. I really like it with the spiderwort bg. :toast:

This looks good, John. The details are great and the fly, anthers, and water drops are well positioned. Without knowing what you did for sharpening, it's hard to tell if the brightness around the fly's eyes (and body) is natural or a processing artifact, but I'd say there's a decent chance that it's real.

Very nicely done, John. I tried something tile that yesterday with an Alberta Wildrose as a BG, but I never got anything even coming close to this. Very sharp. When looking at it closely, I think that the "halo" is part of the fly and does not appear to be an artifact.
