Great Egret, Ardea alba.

There was some sun already, I had my TC 2x with me, trying to take some other photos when I saw this Great Egret.

Does this work for anyone?

Canon 7D, 300mm f/2.8 + TC 2x.
f/5.6, 1/3200, -2EV, ISO 400, @600mm

Very nice. Love the black background. It makes the egret pop.

Works for me. First the plain background is so hard to find. You also have a beautiful subject on a natural perch. I like this a lot.

A wonderful pose and perch, Jefferson, and I like the black bg. My only nit is that some of the whites look hot. I don't know if you can bring any detail out in them or not.

I will echo the comments already made. The whites do look a bit hot, but I suspect there is good detail hidden there. :toast:

Beautiful image. I love the light on the Egret. The dark BG makes it pop just right. The detail is super. The most important thing I like is the behavior captured. Not a traditional Egret documentation portrait.
