I took this last night during the Rialta Roundup at Lometa, in the 'heart' of Texas. Final output view best via the purchase link.
F/2.8, 1/1600th, ISO 2500, 1D M3, 300mm f/2.8 handheld with support & no flash. I've added some motion blur BG & a 'movie look' called blue dawn. onOne Perfect Effects 4 software program..

Great action shot, Howard! I really like how sharp the steer's head is and all the flying dirt. The repost is a nice improvement.

Howard, great action and storytelling. I really like your POV that is down in the action and not shot from above. This is very Cartier-Bresson... you got the decisive moment when the calf's motion has been overcome by the cowboy's strength. Well done. :toast:

Howard this is as great an action shot of any sporting event I've ever seen. This is of course one persons opinion, but I simply must give it. Absolutely outstanding.

Often the case, I went back and looked at this one again. The light was low, the local arena very poorly lit.
So I tried to lighten the face a bit, along with some brush strokes there. Backed off the movie look app slightly as well.
Also selected the white hat & inverted, then brought up the rest of the image some.

Great action shot. Good job in getting the cow's face sharp, yet still capturing the action/motion.
Congratulations on the weekly pick. :toast:
