Grand Canyon, South Rim. Was going to exclude the people when framing this shot, but decided to keep them in there for scale (couldn't convince any of the local elk or mule deer to pose  ) Over a mile down to the bottom; you can just see a piece of the Colorado River mid-frame on the right. Taken with my Powershot SX30, ISO 80, f/5.0, 1/250, zoom lens at 55mm; cropped out small edge of sky, sharpened and made small adjustments to midtones and highlights in PSE. Comments and suggestions always welcome and thanks for viewing.

It is a breathtaking place isn't it Jim.

This really gives the feeling of being on the edge.

I like your bit different view of the Grand Canyon, Jim. The vertical orientation works especially well with this image. The dominant and huge foreground cliff really helps highlight the vastness of the scene behind. . .and, of course, the people on top add a lot to that sense of scale. It helps one realize that the vast rock cliffs viewed in the background are all at least the size of the foreground one. And then there is that tiny thread visible which is the mighty Colorado River! Such an amazing place!

Nice work Jim, a fresh look at this 50 million year old wonder of nature..
Good call leaving the tourists in, they're so small they don't take anything away.
Rather, they give a great sense of scale to the immense size of this magnificent place :toast:
