The Yellow Warbler from my previous post perched again in a matter of a shutter burst, same settings as previous. D90, ISO-320, 1/500th, f-8.0, 500mm, manual & HH. Thanks!!

Bill, This shot gives me renewed hope. The sharpness looks pretty darn good. Thanks for posting. While your last post might've had a slighlty better pose I still prefer to see a crisp clean image such as this one. I guess it's just a matter of getting both in the same place at the same time.
I'm curious as to what settings you are using for your focus point. Maybe you can elaborate. Feel free to email me.

Nice image Bill, I like how the branches frame the warbler. Good color and sharpness. Thanks for sharing.

Nice capture, Bill. Love the look of the scene with the insects on the left and the array of branches. Just wish the upper branch was sharper, as there's a lot of it there. Also, would consider eliminating the partial leaf on the right center edge. The bird, itself, looks grand.
I saw my first Yellow Warbler earlier this Spring. Such a strong yellow-gold color with the maroon stripes on the front. Gotta love it.

Great points Catherine, I think the things you mentioned are necessary and easily fixed.

Nice image with good sharpness Bill. I read the comments on your other warbler shot. It sounds to me like a lot of your challenge with bird photography is getting close enough to the birds. You should try photographing from a small portable blind, there are many available at hunting stores. Set it up with a small chair inside in a good location near water and wait for the birds to come to you.
