Back to the Hummers
by Dennis Plank
Another Rufous Hummingbird (we don't have a confirmed Anna's or Calliope from our yard). The plant is a Penstemon cultivar (Red Riding Hood, if I recall correctly from the label). The hummingbirds seem to favor this over a darker red variety that I personally prefer (but I don't go by nectar taste or quantity). Judging by the shape of this one, I'd say it's about to lay an egg.
1Div, 500mm f4 ISL + 1.4TC, Black Widow on RRS legs, f8, 1/200, Av mode with no compensation, iso 640. Processed in CS6 and cropped to 9.6MP. Taken at 6:43 am on June 2nd. There wasn't any sun on this area yet, which explains the low shutter speed.

That sounds odd when I read it out loud but, You know what I mean.
This is another impressive image and I like the way the Rufous is sharing the spot light with the Red Riding Hood and BG that you captured and presented so well. This image could easily be posted in Flora with great results.
Well Done . . .
This is beautiful, the colours compliment one another perfectly. The only thing I can suggest , if ethics allow, is to consider cloning the petals on RHS
Attractive image that's sure to please!
