Searching Robin

Noticed this robin looking for something in our backyard, then spotted a young robin nearby. Between rains, this robin looked to be searching for food for this young one. It seemed as if each time she found a worm a blackbird or starling would fly in and scare her away.
A common bird, but interesting behavior to watch.

Not a common species in Phoenix, so something I don't see very often unless I get to higher/cooler/wetter territory.

Good size in the frame, and nicely set against the darker green leaves.

I'd tone down the small bright spot on the top edge above the head, lighten the image somewhat (20 points off the right side in levels with the white around the eye masked off), and add a bit of saturation. That will pep up the image a bit.

Nice "harried parent" look to this one, John. I think you're about at the limits of the SX50 capability-the image quality is starting to deteriorate.

Very nice. They are also common birds up here but I never get tired watching the, especially when they pull out worms to feed their young. I like the fluffy feathers and the slightly raised wings. This captures well the tension of the bird. If you are looking at toning down bright spots, as already suggested, I would also consider the bright spot on the twig under the bird.

Hi John, a nice clean shot of this Robin, nice and sharp and good DOF, I really like the BG. IF it were mine I also would open up the exposure just a little and try to add some light into the eye. Overall a fine shot.
