OMG, it's been like 6 months since I've posted an image. Very sorry I haven't been around much - no images to post until this recent trip to Yosemite exactly a month ago. I hope to be more active in the coming weeks as I share some images from the trip. And in my typical way, I'll show these pretty much in the order captured, although I'll skip with the numbering this time...

Your thoughts and feedback as we go along will be much appreciated.
Nothing epic here, just a quiet image along the Merced river as the last rays of sun filter up the canyon. I had to tame the highlights in the bg and the tall pine on the right, but also wanted to maintain some warmth as well.
Would love your thoughts and critiques.

23 commentsGreat to see your new post here, Lon. Does not seem like 6mos as you've mentioned, but time seems to really fly by on me these days, as I stand flat footed don't ya know.....
Anything with this much water and greenery is a pleasing site for my dry desert eyes.
The light here being cast from the URHC is what makes this one come to life. It's perfect in every way for this particular scene. Seems to really bring out the bark in the trees as well as amplifying the leaves and the dogwood tree(s)? too.
Water shutter-speed is another item that works just right for this calming view also.
This type of scene from the valley, along with the quality of the capture and PP are easily identifiable as your work.
Side river shots are difficult to compose interest in my opinion. The soft elongated motion juxtaposed with intricate textures above creates an interesting tension.
I look forward to seeing more of your posts here on ESS
Seriously though, this is elegant and delicate with very nice hints of warm light. I never tire of looking at these scenes when captured well, and this is very nice. Looking forward to the rest.
I remember this! You did a great job with respect to taming the light, and you also managed to retain the warm glow that I saw that day. I also like the warm-cool tension created between the river and the forest. It looks perfect to my eye.
The large version is a 'must see'!
Nicely done, sir!

Touché Matt! Appreciate the welcome!
Hey Chris, yeah, I think I met that guy. I think he's still there too!
Thanks everyone,
Lon
The brightness on the right does cause a slight imbalance to the image, but maybe a little tension is what you wanted.
Simply a beautiful and tranquil image 'developed' perfectly. No nits from me at all.

None the less, I was waiting for your contributions, Harley had to carry the load for the last few weeks. As always it is a joy to see your work. I absolutely love the light in the BG as it adds a great amount of depth to hits photo. Looking forward to seeing more.
