Capturing the Magic

While photographing the sunset at Earthquake Park, Anchorage Alaska, I noticed another photographer taking a photograph. I loved the way he accented the scene. I was in Anchorage on business and left most of my equipment home and had my trusty Sigma 80-400mm OS lens on my camera. I shot this photograph and loved the way it turned out.

Dan,

Welcome to NPN! Great to have you here.

Sunsets are always special and no doubt this one was a special one. The reflection is a vibrant one and of course the brightness of the sun and probably your averaged meter reading made everything else go silhouette, which in this case worked in your favor. A simple, but enjoyable sunset image. And even though the sun and reflection are pretty centered, the composition is nice too because of the framing with the trees and also the presence of the other photographer.

speaking of the photographer, I'm going to move this to the Man & Nature gallery after posting my comment. I know your first post here and it's all new, but this image is just the reason why the other M&N gallery exists. Hope you understand and please contact a moderator if you have any questions or concerns.

The only suggestion I have would be to correct the tilted horizon. It appears a little rotated cw.

Thanks for posting and we look forward to your images and participation in the forums and galleries.

Lon

Welcome to NPN!

Great color and silhouettes. To me, the photographer gets kind of lost between the brush on the right and small tree on the left. Do you have another shot where the photographer is somehow more prominent? The horizon seems a tad tilted but that's certainly an easy fix. I look forward to seeing more of your images.
