John Day Fossil Beds NM, Painted Hills Unit. More to come in the series. Can't wait to go back when I have time to hike the trails.

Panasonic Lumix GH-3, Lumix G Vario 35-100, cpl; f9, 1/125, -0.33EV.

Thanks for viewing, but better if you can make it there yourself!

Love the soft colors and shapes. Is the foreground slightly overexposed or is it just me?

Beautiful banding and very nice color. I'd like to see just a bit more of the hill top in the middle but it's only a personal preference. Lovely composition.

I think the repost is an improvement. Interesting mix of colors with the hills and FG. The soft feel to the image works for me.

Catherine, I think the repost is the ticket here. The colors throughout make the scene work so well, especially the the color in the soft rolling hillsides. This is a location I hope to see and photograph some day.

Catherine, this is a very nice image of a really remarkable place. The is subtle and gives a nice set of tones. My wife and I visited these hills about a month ago and enjoyed it very much. Again, nice job! Chet

Wow, this makes a wonderful first impression Catherine!
Love the distinctive rust reds & layered patterns of those hills, great contrast to FG.
Looks very nice to me as posted, well done! :toast:

Catherine,

The repost is a big improvement here. I think you did a great job incorporating the landscape and vegetation with the painted hills; gives the viewer context. It's also nice to see a view from the bottom, rather than the classic overlook type view.
