Mallard sculpture

I encountered this Mallard and her ducklings in a pond in Yosemite valley last week. Mama watched me closely but let me get in quite near to her and the kids. I should have taken a movie because it was very fun to watch the little ones falling off the log and scrambling back up again.

Thanks in advance for any comments or critiques.

A nice habitat shot Kathy. A bit lack of sharpness on the ducklings, but it is still a good image.

Kathy, my initial reaction was WOW. While I agree the ducklings appear just a bit soft, this is a real catch for you. Congrats.

Interesting and unusual Kathy. Although the chicks are a bit soft (and no doubt fluffy) they still grab your attention in this unusual composition. I am sure every time you look at this you will recall how much you enjoyed the sighting.

Wonderful family portrait - lot's of interest in this image, it keeps your eyes moving around looking for another duckling, but they always re-focus on the prod mama standing guard. Nice shot.

Lovely grouping, Kathy. The weathered wood and ducklings spaced on it are great. It looks to me like your point of focus was a bit behind the ducks. What were your shooting parameters?

The wood perch is such an ideal showcase for all these ducklings. Hard to suggest improvements w/o your shooting specifics...Sharon

A charming image. Without your shooting data, it's hard to suggest technical changes. If it were mine, and the situation permitted, I'd have given a bit more room at the top and shaved a bit off the bottom. The line of ducklings along the logs is very cute.

Every duckling seems to have it's own special resting and preening spot. This is a sweet duck in habitat photo Kathy. I agree with the focus issue though.
