Curious Ringneck

I shot this Ring-necked duck a couple of weeks ago. I normally prefer poses showing a bird in a relaxed state over the alerted curious position here. I do however like the detail, especially the neck ring which if often hidden.

Excellent, Craig. I like the eye contact and the patterns on the bill are neat.

Sweet image Craig, I like the low POV, the over the shoulder pose and the good look at it's namesake. Nice habitat setting as well. I might selectively pull down the saturation on the greens in the BG just a tad, but other than that a lovely shot.

All the ingredients of a good avian shot—head turn, eye contact, detail in the blacks and whites—I do agree with RAndy about the saturation on the greens.

Excellent all the way around. I agree with you about the alert pose. It really works here and shows off all of the ringneck's detail. :toast:

Lovely capture Craig. The stern expression and the bright amber eye really grab you.
I agree about the reeds being a bit too green and (sorry) I have to say I find the composition a bit boring. I would have liked a bit more space above the bird and possibly to th eleft as well.

Great pose and setting for this handsome guy. My mac is in the shop, so using an older laptop,...on this it looks a little oversharpened to me. Still a great image of this guy. Sharon

Killer shot, Craig. The low angle, the head turn and the habitat are all great, and the bird is tack sharp. Really nice.
