One of the subjects here is Shadbush or Serviceberry (
Amelanchier sp.), a modest-sized tree that flowers near the shores of rivers and lakes in early spring, about when the shad run (hence the name.)
The other subject, of course, is the reflections of morning Sun on the lake where I camped a couple of weeks ago. I don't have a lot of experience with "cram" style shooting, because I have always been sort of a documentary photographer. However, I thought this was a good time to shoot wide open for the sake of the bokeh in this shot. Besides, the breeze that made the sparkling ripples also blew the flowers around, so I needed a fast shutter speed.
I know the OOF leaves on the right don't add much to this, but I just did not want to crop out all those sparkling reflections.

Still toying with square of vertical crops; what do you think?
