I sort of got this shot by accident while trying to get a in-flight landing photo of a male cardinal. I didn't notice the female at the time.

Neat capture. The colours stand out beautfully aginst the dark background. You have to be skillful to be lucky.

I totally agree with Martin Dunn. Especially the larger view is breathtaking and amazing !!
I think the flash was a big help here as it's hard to imagine 1/250s producing an image like this on its own.
