Resting Tree Swallow

Yesterday, I was able to spend some time trying to get some bird photography done at the Black Swamp Bird Observatory in Northwest Ohio. Photo-ops were available, but every image required quite a bit of work. I shot this tree swallow through a maze of branches and was amazed that several in the series were descent, but were surrounded with several distracting light colored branches. I used the clone stamp to remove distracting elements and cropped for composition. K10d, 300mm DA* f4 set at f8, 1/400th sec exposure plus -1.5 ev fill flash. Thank you for checking out my photo......................Jim

Considering difficult shadow/highlight situation, you've got this pretty good. It look a bit better on the larger version.

Pretty bird, and a well processed photo. Down here, these little guys are so busy swallowing insects, stoking up for the migration, they never seem to land!

Nice shot! I have never been able to get one to sit still long enough for a shot.

Excellent job on the Swallow, and good work on the cloning, Jim.

Nice to see one perched on something different than a fence post or a wire. Excellent capture and processing.

Comp is really nice. I think the bird could be lightened some to bring out those beautiful colors. Sharon
