I took a trip into the 'Northeast Kingdom' to check out the warbler migration and came across a couple of Bobolinks. Apparently this bird is much less frequent than in the past and I was really pleased to see it, a life bird for me.

Very nice Chuck, these are hard to approach and much less frequent in my area, probably because they nest in hayfields and get cut down by farmers. Techs kook great. :toast:

Hi Charles, looking at the larger version I would add a bit more sharpening to the head, but think as you had the ISO & SS increasing the DOF to around f/9 would have taken it up another level. Whites nicely handled, but the blacks in the tail feathers look a little thin, did you apply any Shadow/Highlight, if so I would be tempted to ease off, just an observation.

Like the 'dreamy' foliage.

Nice bird, pose, setting, and exposure. I think you needed a higher SS for this, or a solid tripod.

Yes Rich you're right. I left the jeep to explore the field I found these in and I was just thinking I'll go light. And of course a life bird pops up. Lesson learned.

Great bird, nicely captured Chuck  This one is high on my want list too. Great pose and detail. I like the angle of the light too.

Great bird to get and congrats on that! I might consider a horizontal crop on this for comp. I like the "fluffed" out look you got. Sharon
