Poppies mix well with other plants..they find a way to poke their heads up. I liked the different stages represented by each bloom. ... and their slightly different direction.

Exquisite detail. I like the linear comp and the spiraling aspect of the blossoms. Is this a little dark, or is it how they looked?

Excellent, Ken. Beautiful composition. I like the sun on the blooms and the dark bg.

Hi Phil, this variety of poppy has petals papery-thin towards translucent...esp when weathered like that lowest one. Is the darkness accurate...I would say yes as far as the blossoms go. I did not want to over-expose them as they quickly take on the neon coloring. The b/g was processed darker. I selected portions and soaked it in black. The distance bloom in the upper rt corner is an example. Well, heck... make this easy...attached is the raw...untouched (one of two that were blended)...downsized and converted to jpeg... (my conversion profile pushes the reds a bit..).

Lovely study in light and shade, Ken, as well as capturing beautifully a fine group of poppies. Very nicely composed.
