Alpine Spring

I want to continue my series from Switzerland with this impression of alpine spring, found below the edge of a glacier near Grindelwald. The vegetation in this place is recurringly erased by avalanches and I am drawn by the perseverance to grow up again.

I find this especially beautiful in the larger view; the white lines in the foreground against the rounded shapes and diagonal of the rock in the background; but also the subtle pastel greens, blues, yellows, and reddish browns throughout.

The general presence of small, sharp leaf color made me think of pointillism, in a way, and in its entirety, when I first saw the larger view, I thought of a painting. Beautiful composition.

Does indeed give the feel of spring. That perfect time when the greens are vibrant but you can still see though to get a hint of the background. The entire image looks a bit too bright, possible do to the sharpening for web with all of the fine detail. The two large stands of birch hold my attention, I might consider a crop off the left as the FG feels a little empty, while plenty of interest on the right.

Hi Peter, I'm really enjoying this scene! Excellent work on your composition and I love the overall feel of this. The rock in the background really adds an interesting look to this scene. I like it as is but it does look like it might be a little over sharpened on my monitor. Harry mentioned the brightness and I do wonder how it would look a bit darker, maybe that would take away from the feel it has. I'm not sure but it might be worth a try. Anyways, I like what you did here.

Peter, I like this idea and composition overall. The only thing I might do here is a slight crop in from the left. Maybe just passed the small rock in mid ground there. I think that will tie our focus directly to the main site of the trees more and not wander off to the boulder formation on the left.
I can't say too much about the overall issue with possible over-sharpening. I think compression might be a big part of any distortion we might see at this web size image. You might better judge that by how well it Saved For Web. I know if mine are below 6 they're typically pretty rocky to view especially in the larger size.
Other then those items this is good to go IMO.

Beautiful spring image Peter. I enjoy being able to still see through the trees to the mountains behind. Wonderful detail. Nicely done.
