Small-flowered Lupine

A tiny member of the huge lupine clan. These are under 4 inches (10 cm) tall where they grow in moss covered gravel at my front gate. The entire bloom cluster is less the 1/2 inch (1 cm) tall. I took this one in late evening light when it was pretty well backlit.

5Diii, 180mm f3.5 macro, tripod, f22, 1/13 sec, Av mode with -1/3 stop compensation, iso 500. Processed in CS6. One intruding leaflet tip removed in processing. Full frame. Taken May 8th at 7:53 pm.

Gotta like this one, Dennis. I don't think I would have guessed lupine. The backlighting on this is really good and it shows of the colors which look very true and faithful to the original. Superb detail in your image. Nicely seen and captured. A winner.

Well, this is super Dannis, it's the best photo of a lupin that I have seen. I am bewitched by the splendid blue of the petals in the shade together with the transparency of the petals in the light and all against a dark, cold, mysterious background. Bravo!

Very nice light on the stem of blooms Dennis. I like the light and the BG. I sort of wish that the leaves on the right were not in the shot.
