Hi,
here is another LF image, showing the same scene, including the opposite shore and the trees. I hope it is different enough (a less abstract composition)to justify a separate post.

I am interested to hear which one you prefer.

Dietrich

This is beautiful in the gradual blends of blue with many points of interest, An exceptional image IMO.

Hey Didl, so you shifted to LF eh!? I remember you were considering to make the big step, the last times we've been in touch.
I like the monochromatic look of this picture, it's very natural looking and the nuances of blues span across a very wide range. I like it very much!

:toast: This one......
I might still try dealing with the reeds on the lrhc, but not a deal breaker either way. Maybe just a bit off the tops of those would do it. This comp works much better IMO.

Dietrich, this version works great for me. I especially appreciate the subtle transition of shapes and tones from bottom to top. The distant trees add a very interesting pattern for me, this is the reason why I prefer the second post.

I too like the transitions in this composition, reflected in changes in luminance, starting over in the upper right hand corner with almost black, and moving in a clockwise circle through the center with more of a midtone and then through the diagonal layers or "steps" all the way over to the final big step to snow on the left, the edge of which forms a nice opposing angle with those of the ice layers.

The perspective and sharpness of focus throughout give it a strong feeling of depth.

I also like the subtle directional contrast of the stems and tree trunk reflections. The blue hues connote the cold and freezing conditions, but it is quite blue on my monitor.

I like this one much better Dietrich with the exception of the two reeds on the extreme right.

Dietrich, What a fantastic winter scene! It's beautiful and I love the mood. It is different enough and I even prefer this one over your last one. That one was nice but this one even better imo. I like this a lot and love the cool blue winter tone making the perfect mood.

I like this one much better. The trees/snow at the top provide nice context and also some strong textural contrast to the ice and snow.

A bit less abstract but with the same beautiful flow to it. The background gives it a nice framing - feels a bit better balanced to me than the first.

I do like this better than your previous post. While less abstract, I think you make better use of the edges and there is a nice flow through the shot. That top right corner does look enticing for some reason.

I to like this comp much better Dietrich. The inclusion of more background puts the scene into perspective. The reeds in the background still add a lot of intrigue to the scene for sure.

Exquisite, Dietrich. The leading lines in the foreground that move the eye back and then curve across the upper section to the far treeline works perfectly. The tonal separation you achieved in incredible, along with the textures and subtle light on the snow forms on the left. The two grasses in the lower right hand corner are somewhat distracting to the flow, but I would not want to crop anything to eliminate them. Not really a big deal anyway. An outstanding winter image.

Hey,

I love this one! The other left me feeling like it wasn't complete/finished.

I thought from the thumbnails that I would like the other one, but this is the clear winner. The unbroken line of trees in the background works better here. Wonderful image.
