Kansas storm

I took this Friday evening in western Kansas. These rocks are normally a reddish color, and the evening storm light really enhanced that color. I went for the wide open look for this image, even though I had to shoot across the pasture since these rocks are on private lands. I am guessing the formations are 10-20 feet high, but it is hard to guess from across the pasture. I am posting a close up image in the CSNP forum. 7D, ISO 200, 1/200, f/11, 10mm with small crop. C&C always welcome and appreciated.

I like the wide open view here emphasizing the gigantic cloud formation, Rob. Wonderful colors overall. I think you're right about the formations too, it's hard to tell the size per se from the photo. But, I suspect they might be a bit taller then we might think they are.

I like it, Rob! Nice open view and the clouds compliment the landscape. Been a slow season so far; i set aside 10 days to chase storms and it looks like i might only get 2 or 3 days worth going for. Ah well, guess ill do what youve done--cloudscapes!

Ah, those wide and high prairie skies, especially when stormy. That's an awesome cloud and the light on the rocks sets off the storm well. Very nice.

Love the minimal strip of land that, together with the incredible clouds, gives one a real sense of the huge space of this place. Excellent.
