Hoffmann's

After a morning of shooting we decided to break for lunch in a very small village right outside the park boundary. The menu choices were limited, but I saw some of the best birds of the day wondering around the village, including this male Hoffmann's Woodpecker feasting on a papaya in a villager's backyard.

I would have liked a little more light falling on the bird, but I think this works. Interested in your thoughts.

Neat shop Charles. Sharp and colourful. I like the way the woody's got his tail wrapped under the papaya for a bit of extra support.

An unusual perch, anda new species for me. I agree a bit more direct light would have been nice but this works as you've captured it.

Very interesting capture of this woodpecker.the way he is hanging on to the papaya and the fact that he has already had a good portion of it tells a good story,He certainly has a good grip on his lunch. :toast:

A different shot and I like it with the feeding. I think you have enough light and the detail in the larger version is good!

A lovely shot of this Hoffman's, Charles. I found them to be pretty skittish; good work getting this close. The papaya stem above the red crown is a bit distracting; maybe clone it out?
