Coyote Portrait

Trying to do some clean-up and open some room on several drives and ran across a few shots I never got around to processing. This one was from last year at Rocky Mountain Park. I processed and posted a couple of shots from that series, but never got around to the real closeup work I was able to get that day.

I agree with all of the preceding comments. I wonder if your portrait doesn't point out the differences between the "western" coyote and the "eastern" coyote who may have mated with wolves as the former advanced into the mid-west and the latter retreated into the northern states & Canada. Our coyotes (northern Illinois) have smaller ears vs head & a blunter snout.

Hi Kurt, love the colours in this, they work so well. Don't suppose you have this in landscape too, would give more room to look into? It was a shame you were fighting light/SS here, as a bit more DOF would have been good so you have the eyes to nose within the DOF range. Look forward to more. :toast:

The detail and color in this close-up is amazing Kurt. The soft light works well here.

Awesome portrait Kurt! Beautiful soft light, focused eyes and superb detail. A bit more DOF would have brought that nose more in focus and my guess is that the BG would have allowed for that as well. Personally I would like to see a bit more room on the right. There seems to be a hint of colour noise in the BG.

Lovely portrait Kurt. Good control of dof, the eyes are the main focus and are very sharp. The background is very attractive and interesting because of the variation in color. :toast:
