Red Tide (+edit)

Not really a red tide, but the sunset really put a red glow on everything. Maybe a little bit of a red flare, too.

Not anything new from me. This is from the same day as my last beach posting, but without the green algae stuff in the frame. Some of the comments from that last post indicated that there was a little bit of distraction from the green. I'm curious to see what this post does. I kept this a little on the dark side to emphasize the red rings and the sky.

Canon 5D2, Nikon 14-24mm. Two shot exposure to control highlights.

Intense lighting, the lighting around the pools really isolates them well. Processing looks fantastic as I've come to expect from your images, the right side feels a bit heavier with the placement of the pools. My only suggestion might be to crop a bit off the left where if looks empty compared to the right, then a slight crop off the bottom (more off the bottom) and a hair off the top to maintain the aspect ratio. A special place, especially with this rendering. :toast:

REally cool image. My only problem with it is that your red channel is pretty blown. I'd mess with that a bit to see if you can bring the detail back in the red portions of your sky.

This is a very dramatic image and an excellent comp jimmy. The only thing I would suggest is to try and reduce the red patch in the center near the waters edge.

This is a beautiful compositon Jimmy, I've been to this spot and it's quite amazing. My only suggestion is to pull back the saturation of the reds. It seems a little too much. :toast:

I really like that red glow in the foreground - great idea to keep the foreground dark to emphasize the contrast of the glow. Very nicely composed and processed.

Yeah, the reds are seriously blown--but tame them and you have a real winner--the moonscape fg is awesome!

The lighting and processing really make those beautiful shapes stand out! I agree with Harry, though, the left side is a bit empty and light compared to the right.

Not sure why I never noticed the red clipping. Oh, well. Here's a revision with a better red and a crop. Thanks for the critiques!

The repost nails it Jimmy. This is awesome! Great comp and subject matter only superseded by the monster sunset colors.

Spectacular, Jimmy. Those red rimmed circles in the foreground are stunning. Your repost nails it. And congratulations on the Gallery of the Month. Well deserved.
