Mouth Wash

Was lucky enough to catch this Osprey taking an in-flight dip. Was very happy the eye was nicely visible through the water spray. Yes, the nictitating membrane is closed, but wouldn't yours be too? This must be the Osprey version of our WaterPik for cleaning teeth.

Please view larger version for max details. Thanks.

Terrific action, Ron! Nice detail as always, and like the eye.
Seems a tad tight at the bottom.
Some added sharpening of the water drops would improve this sweet image even more.

Thanks, Sandy for your comment. If anything I have been thinking about making this more of a pano with less BG water on top and about the same on the bottom. More water (top or bottom) does not really add anything to the image for me, but a bit closer on the bird may heighten the action. I want the bird low in the frame because it is skimming the waters surface and the beak pointing at the LRHC seemed appropriate.

Love the high speed stop-action here Ron, it makes this click very special.
I especially like your 'WaterPick' description..
So you made me go wow & smile as well

Ron,
What a moment you captured, great detail as always, I like the pano idea you suggested. I have seen many an Osprey skimming over the years but this is a first for me. I guess this answers the question, 'How close is too close?'
Well done . . . :toast:

Ron, what a terrific action shot. Probably only my personal preference but I am not sure I would like a pano crop. It seems to me action pics need space and space above the Osprey works for a flight shot IMO.
