After a very poor monsoon in India last year ,the water holes are beginning to dry up .The tiger came down to drink in what is now becoming a pretty muddy pond but still gave us some great photo ops.
Canon 500mm +2 X .Canon eos 1D Mk 1v. ISO 800.beanbag .
Thank you for looking .comments and critique always helpful.

Lovely shot Suzanne. That must have been a wonderful moment. With his gorgeous colouring the tiger stands out well against the background but I might have been tempted to compose differently. Maybe lose some of the mud in the foreground and bring the subject down and left a bit. of course you were there and I wasn't and you have probably experiemented with loads of different crops.

Very nice image, the eye contact, laid back ears and suspended mouth leaves a great deal to interpretation as to the tiger's thoughts. Is it going to take a drink, or bare its teeth? Great stuff. I too like how the tiger's coloring is stands out from the back ground.

Wonderful image, Suzanne! The rich colours of the tiger really stand out against the drab surroundings. The eye contact is hypnotic. I just wish you had got the image with the tongue out, though.

Suzanne,

This is great, the stare adds so much. Cropping is always difficult but I agree with Martin,s suggestion.

Suzanne, Ajit's comment about the eye-contact hits the nail on the head: hypnotic indeed! Nicely processed and well composed. I find that the overall scene does not lend itself very well for such a wide frame and a closer view would have made this a much more powerful image with that look! I do realise that you were working at a maximum FL... If this is FF you could still crop a bit of course.

Ajit and Vincent, thank you for your helpful suggestions on cropping the image some.I had taken a small bit off the bottom,so image is almost full frame..I think I have enough detail that I could crop in some more..I sometimes like to keep a fair bit of the enviroment surrounding the subject as I feel it gives a feeling of not only the animal being photographed but also of his habitat. too.In this instance the habitat is not very nice and a larger crop may improve the image further.thanks all for you comments.
Cheers
Suzanne
