Bus through Denali

We lucked out the day we took the bus through Denali National Park, being able to view the mountain for several hours before the clouds came in. You can see another bus along the road in this otherwise pristine natural environment.

Canon Rebel xTi, ISO100, 55mm, f/8, 1/160 sec.

Comments and critiques always welcome.

I like the transition in the photo from tundra to 'hills' to Denali. I think there may be too much foreground and I'd be tempted to crop some off the bottom to above that stream . The cloud shadow helps break up the foreground nicely and the bus gives great scale. With the relatively muted color I wonder what a B&W conversion would look like. An awe-inspiring image for sure!

This has great impact Kathy, makes ya go 'wow'
I especially like how Denali's framed by these nearby hills/mountains, and the road takes your comp right where it needs to be..
All the way to the top! :toast: :toast:
Have a great weekend :wavey:

Amazing scene, Kathy! Great comp in this image IMO. The large foreground area really gives a sense of isolation and the bus helps give a sense of scale to show the vastness of this space. The curving road on the right is balanced nicely by the darker mountain on the left and the clouds in the top left corner. The blue sky and snowy mountain make a beautiful contrast with the stark looking foreground. Well photographed shot.

Excellent choice on focal length. The scale is stunning and it wouldn't be with a wide lens. The foliage has bare-earth coloration. Leaves me speculating on what season it was that far north.

Gotta agree with all the other comments Kathy; makes you want to look for awhile. I hear Denali makes its own weather, so the low-hanging clouds add a sense of mystery and awe.

Great shot, Kathy! Congrats on the WP. I sure like how the road winds through the valley and how ghostly that monster mountain looks in the distance. The bus provides a nice size reference.

You WERE lucky! Marvelous scene - can't wait to be there.
I agree to crop a little tighter on the bottom - no need for all the space there.
Congrats on the fine WP!
