Red Dawn

it's been over a year since i returned from my last trip to patagonia, but i still have not finished uploading all of my images yet. here's another one from a memorable morning high above lago viedma.

does anyone of you feel that the red glow near the ridgeline/horizon could be a technical flaw (lens/filters)? it's there in all original exposures...

as usual i also wrote a little article on my blog.

Parque Nacional los Glaciares, Patagonia, Argentina

Canon 5DMKII, EF 17-40 @ 20mm
ISO 100, f/11, 20 seconds
blended in another exposure to deal with clipped red channel, processed in LR and PS (TKs luminosity masks)

best,
joerg

Nice work old mate. That colour must have made you feel like singing. I might try to straighten the curved horizon though.

Looks like a spectacular morning. I sure like the glowing shrubs in the foreground, those long branches of water on the left and the line of boats. I think the red glow just below the horizon is a combination of bleed over from the brightest area of the sky and some reflection from the sky. If you blended two exposures, I'd go back and check that area in the dark exposure (if you haven't already).

Love the red on red. The light bleed on the horizon looks a little strange to my eye, however.

Amazing view and colors! The glow does not appear unnatural - I think it is what I have seen due to haze and the diffraction. Here is a photo by Andreas Resch, showing something similar:

Stunning. The reds just sing in this image. Very nicely done

Absolutely gorgeous in every way! I would never have guessed that this was taken Patagonia.
'Developement' is perfcet, save for the bleedover that others mention. That should be an easy fix, though.
Excellent work, Joerg!
