Strathcona Reflections

Strathcona Park in the centre of Vancouver Island. Very underused area except by hikers and backpackers. This image from the Bedwell River Valley area late last summer. Unfortunately fires were burning in the park and a lot of smoke, haze was present in the backround.
Any tricks for cutting haze in editing.

The mid-ground greens are great and the sky and it's reflection work well to create a wonderfully inviting scene. The only place I notice haze is at the edges of the distant peak and that looks like it could easily be atmospheric distance, not smoke. Looks like a great place to kick back and enjoy the sun and the breeze.

Bill, all the elements in your composition work together wonderfully for me. The delicate ripples on the water add a lot of interest to me. I also appreciate how the foreground elements counteract the vibrant greens in the distance.

Beautiful scene. At first, I thought I was looking at fyords in Norway. I personally like the haziness in the background. Adds depth, I think. Technically, haze is a contrast killer, so it seems to me that increasing the local contrast in post processing would help.

This is a beautiful scene, Bill. I like the haze in the distance and love the slight ripple in the water. You captured a wonderful feel with this image. Very nice!

Love the dappled light and the mood of the scene. The green colors and topography are wonderful.
The comp has nice front to back depth.
I might try painting in a levels adjustment if I wanted to cut the haze in the background.

The thumbnail doesn't do this justice, Bill. The dappled light showcaes those wonderful greens to their full advantage and those clouds are simply superb. This is fantastic. :toast: This is just a personal preference, but what ddo you think about cloning out that solitary rock in the water?
