Nice detail one this one Ken, and the spur is well shown. Excellent capture! :toast:

Nice colors, pose and angle. I do see quite a bit of noise in the large version. It sort of surprised me at ISO 800. Is this a large crop and/or was it underexposed out of the camera with shadow adjustments made?

Claude,
Thanks very much
Kurt,
It is rather large crop I am afraid about 20%, if only I had my 1DX then, I took it this year but did not see these :frown:

Lovely pose and a nice setting. In some cases the grasses to the bird's left could be distracting, but here I find they help frame it and add atmosphere.

Nice clean image, Ken. If I look really closely at the larger image, I think I can see where you did some noise reduction on the bg and didn't quite get to the bird. It creates a tiny band of noise around the bird. I know it's sacrilege to some, but using some of the plug in noise reduction packages (I use Neat Image), I usually apply noise reduction to the entire image and rarely see any deleterious effects.

Dennis,
Being one of those "old" photographers who were disturbed by the noise at 400 ISO (If i rember correctly I used GAF 500 reversal), I think I see it everywhere.

I find none of the plug ins work very well, for this I probably used Nik Define or The Plugin Site's Noise Control.

Charlie,

Thanks very much for your kind comment
