White Globe Lily

I was out hiking last week at Hidden Falls Regional Park with my granddaughters visiting from MA. This park is east of Sacramento in the Sierra foothills. Along the trail I came upon a small stand of these white globe lilies. They are really very neat and the flowers are about an inch across. This is the best image I got which I made square due to cropping to balance. I added a little warmth to the photo, resized, and sharpened. My biggest nit is the blown highlight on the main flower. Oh, well. Should have checked the histogram. Comments and critiques are welcomed and appreciated.

Pretty comp...it is a bit of a bummer as you mentioned about the blown out petal...I am assuming that is why you have the rest of the image fairly dark. Did you try burning it in?

Peter:

Highlight aside, this is a really nice composition. I like the symmetry and receding focus of the the 2 blooms and the painterly bg. A handy accessory for flora work is a circular polariser which can cut down glare and reflection from waxy surfaces.
