I suppose this is nothing new for this Pied Kingfisher, this was taken from a drifting boat on the Kazinga Channel, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda

Nice shot Ken. subject works well against the background. It looks as though there are a couple of patch of blown white - just above the shoulder and on the leg. Might be worth trying to dim those down a bit.

Martin,

The patches are not really blown, well that is what PS shows, but they are certainly too bright, I will tone them down a bit!

What a beautiful kingfisher!
Great eye, pose, and prey.
The large version is quite sharp, so i wonder if a tighter crop might be even better? There is a lot of log in the present version that doesn't add anything, and actually overwhelms the bird a bit.(IMO) .
A program like Viveza (very highly recommended) would subdue those small hot spots easily, plus add some further definition.

Excellent image!

Interesting contrast with the kingfisher and those wonderful background colors. This could possibly be a vertical crop as well. Nice job of getting this from a boat and good timing to get the fish in mouth.

Excellent detail in the larger version, Ken. A nice image with lots of interest and good composition. It looks like you did an excellent job handling some fairly harsh light.

Here is the best I could do having got my back up of the RAW from my server backup.
Could not really get the whites any better I am afraid, but I have adjusted the crop and eliminated the grass. Please bear in mind that this crop is around 35% of full frame
