Another shot from my shoot last week at Klamath Falls Basin wildlife refuge. Unlike the normal menu of birds that can be found west of the Cascade Mountains in OR, WA... the Klamath Falls area east of the mountains is home to 5 different grebes. This Eared Grebe pair was one of several new ones for me including, western, clark's and horned grebes which I didn't spot. They also have the pied-billed.

Larger version available, thanks for stopping!

Nice catch! I haven't even seen these guys...may have to head up there this weekend..

Great poses, fine detail, and colours.
My only nit is that grebe on the right - the eye looks funky without an (apparent) pupil - you might consider adding one!

Wonderful overall composition with the placements of both Grebe's looking at each other. It is kind of strange not seeing the pupil but other wise a very nice shot with the water and trailing reflections.

An intersting pose and gorgeous rich colours. The orange eyes look demonic.

Sweet pose you captured of this pair Craig. They are one of my favorites to see.

OK now they have pupils. Seeing the eyes on these is very different. The bright scarlet iris and very small pinpoint pupils just keeps shouting "This bird doesn't look right,"

I love the poses and interaction here, Craig. Those are some crazy eyes, particularly those tiny pupils.

Really nice looking couple, and I especially like their 'dual' pose facing each other here Craig. :wavey:
