I am away helping a pro photograph my niece's wedding, but sitting here in the motel room, I realized I had some of the chard close-ups I took after the ikebana shoot last week, so I decided to make a submission out of one of them and seek it in under the wire.

(I will never be a wedding photographer, by the way)Come to think of it, maybe I'll never be one period! But I don't give up easy.... :jump:

I kind of liked it as an abstract and also linking us to plants in structure. I could have used the red-veined ones, but I liked this one better in form.

Pentax K-5, Tamron 90mm macro @90mm, f/22, 1/180s, ISO 800 (had to be adjusted down in pp), flash through the leaf, leaf taped down to Plexiglas over a softbox.

Ha, Ha! No sooner had I commented on one chard, another sneaks up on me :). Brilliant veins! Come to think, I've actually had chard and enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing your methods too...hmm, softbox, plexiglas, flash.

I've always been fascinated by the graphic lines and beauty of a leaf when viewed close-up. Nice comp of this leaf with the main vein in a diagonal across the image and the smaller veins branching out all over. It does appear to be a bit soft for F/22. . .was the leaf taped flat on the Plexiglas? I've never used a softbox yet with an object on top. . . a technique I would like to try sometime. I also know I will NEVER be a wedding photographer! I'll stick with nature objects, thank you.
