I went to the supermarket today and bought some (hopefully) photogenic produce, including these red grapes. I decided to shoot them on a mirror. Thanks to Carolyn Derstein, we will be eating a little healthier this week. :wavey:

Pentax K-5, Tamron 17-50 at 50mm, softbox at low angle, camera at high angle, 1/180, ISO 400, f/22. Cropped and enhanced a bit using curves with luminance masks.

Yumm. . .they do look delicious! Your black background certainly makes this clump have no other distractions and helps highlight the varying shades of red in the grapes. Nice sharp focus throughout. This angle makes it almost look like the grapes are hanging on the vine but also feels a bit awkward to me. . . like the photographer is about to take a frontward somersault while taking a top-down shot. Other rotations of this photo could be experimented with that might help alleviate that feeling. . .but this feeling may just be me. Glad I got you to eat healthier, John!

edit: After rereading your comments it may be the fact that it was shot on the mirror created this feeling. Now that I know it is a mirror shot, it all makes more sense. Maybe a slight difference in the reflection surface would help alleviate that initial viewing reaction.

Thanks for looking and commenting, Carolyn Derstine. I actually did look at a variety of changes in orientation but I decided to leave it as is as sort of a visual puzzel: which grapes are reflections? A few are obvious, but it can get tricky.

Looks great, well seen and set up. It was a challenge to figure out where the mirror was.
