Fog and wildflowers at Mt Rainier last year - scraping the archives in anticipation of shooting any day now for the first time in 3-4 months.

Larger version available on black at the Purchase Print URL.

I actually shot this a few hours after sunrise, late morning - twilight/night-esque processing can be achieved most of the time if there's no direct light on the landscape, and I found that it infused this image with a decidedly more sinister mood than the original scene (at least as far as the trees/light/fog go).

Beautiful shot Alex. It somehow looks both natural and artificial at the same time, which I guess means you did a great job with the processing. Really well done.

I just love the fog in this Alex. The dark presentation is very alluring and pulls me into that brighter glow between the two trees. Excellent!

Well, I'm not sure how sinister you can make flowers look , but I really like what you've done with the image. The placement of the two pine trees in the bright spot draws the eye up from the flowers and then past to the pines in the fog. Great comp and processing work Alex.

Wow, is the mood here fantastic or what. I simply love the way the wildflowers lead the viewer to that lighter area between the two evergreens. Fantastic image, Alex. :toast:

Sinister is not a word I would ordinarily think applied to wildflowers but your processing has certainly created an unusual marriage of the two in this image. Nice work

I like the darker mood you developed. The leaning trees on the left catch some discern though. Nice comp with the angled line of flowers leading to the light behind the tall firs. Sehr gut.

Thanks everyone. Doug, the leaning trees are one reason I didn't post this for so long (it's been sitting completed for months) - I tried warping and rotating/cropping/using vertical lens correction to get everything straight, but in the end I just didn't have enough room on the left side of the LL flowers to lose any portion of the image to a crop or warp. Decided the "focal" trees being straight was most important. My bubble level must have been sitting in the shoe weird, since I swear I always make sure that's perfect to make corrections like leaning trees easier.

Love the comp and mood.

I’m just waiting for the knight in black armor to come riding through the scene.

Very nicely balnced light and color tones. Sinsiter was one of the first descriptors that came to mind on first look. Well done.

I agree with virtually everything already said. Sure, the leaning trees are tough not to notice when we Tech Monsters gather to critique. However, most customers will overlook the distortion and fall in love with the overall mood, and the cool, vibrant colors you are becoming famous for…My only suggestion would be to add just a notch of exposure. But that might be my monitor. Run with this one, it’s a keeper.

Just outstanding Alex. I love the mood, and your processing is spot on. (Another one that probably needs a dark background.) :toast:

I love the dark mood here! Ordinarily i wouldnt care for the bright glow of the flowers, but here i think it's necessary to counter the darkness. Nice work, Alex! :wavey:
