Scarlet-headed Blackbird
by Nate Chappell
This is a shot from the tour the Ibera Marshes in Argentina that I led in 2011. I'm looking forward to going back there this fall. The tour is very rich in icterids and this is probably the most stunning of the various blackbird and oriole species that we get. The color of the head is accurately depicted here, I would describe it as orangish-red rather than scarlet. This was taken from a boat and it's cropped to vertical - about 50% of the original.

Keep these beauties coming
The red head is gorgeous but the detail on the black lower parts is wonderful.
Sweet One Nate!!!
