Gallery: Macro & Close-upPosted April 13, 2013113 views9 comments
Mirrored image of T Dubious. Stack of 6 at 0-EV,6 at +1-EV and 6 at -1-EV coming up with 3 seperate images in Helecon Focus then combined in Photomatix. a55, 60mm Tamron Macro 1.1, tripod, natural lighting.
I wanted to try this experiment as part of my Puff project and add some HDR effect without it looking obnoxious.

Any comments, critiques or suggestions are always welcome. If this belongs in photo art that is okay too.

Thank you for all of your past comments on my images. It is greatly appreciated.

Looks great on black, and I like the tasteful use of HDR to enhance.. It has a nice warm glow to it.
Interesting balancing act, great idea to convert using this mirrored effect. And Puff project has a nice ring to it:wink:
Well done :toast:

So I went back and compared this to Puff I, William. Interesting variation on the theme. I really like the color, light and detail in this version. Expertly done. :toast:

The golden lighting and the mirroring work very well here, William, and your stack shows the details deep into the seed heads. This looks great. Out of curiosity, I find myself wondering how I would react to seeing this as a horizontal.

Mark,

Do you mean re-posting this image as a horizontaL or re make the image horizontal using two seed heads with their respective reflections? I can do both. When I tried 2 seed heads with reflections it seemed too busy to me but then maybe not. Thanks for the suggestion.

Interesting how in the horizontal version, the subtle brightness difference really shows up. I prefer the vertical and especially like the extra space provided by the black background, both the horizontal and the thumb feel tight to me.
