Waiting

I went out to Bandon, Oregon early one morning to photograph the sea stacks at sunrise, but when I saw this lone Canada Goose standing in the surf I decided it had more potential. The goose was walking slowly around and I didn't think I'd be able to get a sharp shot in the low light, but then a wave rolled past it and it stood still for a few seconds, and I was able to get this shot. The strip of bright light in which the goose is framed is the gap between two sea stacks on the beach.

I'm not really certain why there are no comments on this shot Thomas, but guess I'll be the first. I really like the emotion this image creates. The title couldn't be more perfect. It has a very dreamy feel to it with your choice for a long exposure with the waves. I like it as posted and find it very artistic.

Thomas ..this is a through the roof image. Its a piece of art. Love the way your have composed this frame with that light reflection on the bird. The placement of the bird in the frame is excellent. Well done....

Lovely surreal image Thomas. It could be water, it could be snow. Difficult to tell how sharp the focus is on the goose but the overall effect is great.

Very interesting image Thomas. The picture would have looked much better if the Goose were looking down towards the bottom left of the frame. The Goose looking out of the frame spoiled the composition.

This is very intriguing and my second visit to check it out. I guess the white strip behind the goose looks weird to me as if accentuated too much in post, but it makes the goose stand out and for all I know is a real fortunate bit of natural light that you maneuvered to take advantage of. The smooth water is great and gives a lot of mood to this,

ps I think the goose looking into the distance is fine - gives a story-telling aspect to this that looks like the bird is wondering what's out there and if it's time to find out. This adds to the mood in my mind. If it were looking elsewhere that could tell another equally impelling story, but I'm glad not all bird shots are face-on to the camera or it would get pretty boring quick.
